• A hybrid variety, Darkside, a baby leaf spinach, is a leafy vegetable. The plant sets heads that have a uniform size and shape with good tonnage. The leaves are thick, smooth, and dark green, with an oval to round shape and a fabulous flavor.

• A cool-season, winter-hardy vegetable, the toughest of the cool-season crops, one of the first to be planted in the garden, spinach seed can be direct sown into the garden as soon as the soil is workable in early spring, before the last frost date.
